Early in my practice, I had the pleasure of working with
a 104-year-old woman. She remembered vividly the details of her youth, her arrival in America, and
even the names of students she'd taught many years before. She'd been a vegetarian for 75 years, had
a positive outlook on life, was an avid reader, prayed daily, and had stronger pulses than many
people half her age. She told me quite clearly that she wanted to live to be 105, and that was
all. This lovely, refined, elegant lady died in her sleep three days after her hundred and fifth
birthday, her Mind as sound at the end of her life as it had been in her young adult years. She was
a wonderful example of the incorporation of tending to body and spirit to maintain the Mind. Thank
you, Mrs. Morton, for the memories.
